Daniel: At the age of 18 you already had a strong presence in the hip hop scene. How did you get there so fast? DJ Smallz: There are a lot of different elements that I attribute to this, but my creativity and my consistency are the most key factors. Time has been on my side and I've been able to build a personal relationship with streets and the urban community for the past three years. They've seen me grow, make mistakes and triumph over them. The "Southern Smoke" movement is not just my movement, it's the South's. I'm blessed to be a part of it. Daniel: How did you come up with the "Dirty R&B" series? DJ Smallz: Well, i was already murdering the streets with the Southern Smoke brand - which is known for exclusive southern hip hop music. I knew that the southern R&B genre was just as big if not bigger than southern hip hop, and i wanted to re-create the same movement and exclusives with southern r&b. Daniel: Do you see an end of "Dirty R&B" anytime soon? DJ Smallz: Not unless the streets do. I know my market, if they're arent feeling it, ill stop... but until then we'll keep givin' the people what they want Daniel: You run alot of other businesses. What will be DJ Smallz next big thing? DJ Smallz: I'm in the final negotiation stages between two major labels for the "Southern Smoke" album. I'm expanding the syndication nationally for "Southern Smoke Radio" in the United States. I'm workin' on a pilot for "Southern Smoke TV" an incredible new reality television series that will be hitting major cable networks soon. I just created my new artist development brand - "Fear Factor" - the sister label to "Southern Smoke" and i'm always workin' on new clients for my marketing company SouthPromo.com. Daniel: Thanks alot and good luck in future! DJ Smallz: Thank you Daniel! If you need to get at me, dont hesitate to hit me up through my website djsmallz.com or add me as a friend on MySpace! |
